Directions: From the free-throw line: Just set the dot (nail) on the shot line mat over the nail in the floor at the free-throw line and begin working on your free-throw shooting. It’s always best to start in about 8’ and then move back to 12’ and then to the free-throw line for best results. If you are outdoors, jut try to line up the arrow on the shot line mat with the center of the rim. | ![]() |
From the perimeter: Make sure the arrow above the dot (nail) is directly in line with the center of the basket. You can place both feet on the mat and shoot the basketball (best from 15’ and in) or you can place your weak foot on the mat, hold the ball and step on the mat with your lead or strong foot and shoot. This will give you a catch step and shoot motion to work on your shot line. Coach Doug Noll believes that the core and the foundation of all shooting comes from the free-throw line and that your free-throw and your jump shot should mirror each other to become the “Big Time” pressure shooter and consistent shooter, you would like to be. |
